Thhe Celestial Chain is the second chapter that Time Run released. It builds on the adventures the time travellers had in the first chapter. You can tell this is an evolution of the first room, centered more around the story and providing more intriguing and complex puzzles.
As opposed to any other game, the reception is where the game actually starts. A strange door marks the entrance and the game actually starts the minute you walk in. From the minute you step in, you feel immersed in a different world so your only option is to play along. All the carefully chosen objects do a magnificent job at recreating the various epochs. The decor integrates very subtly even the more technologically advanced objects.
The mysterious Luna once again asks for your help, only this time she asks you to save the world. Someone unleashed an evil spirit on the earth and only the retrieval of the celestial chain can banish it. The players have to collect various objects that make up the chain, spread through different epochs.
The design of the room is centered around time travelling and takes you through various eras. These are different from the first chapter and we can say that the creators put even more effort into them. The special effects are surprising and and build up to t he grand finale where you definitely feel like being in an Indiana Jones movie. Overall, each room consisted of a number of puzzles that you needed to solve. Players had a set time in each of them.
The puzzles were very varied and some were quite difficult. They required a lot of imagination, for trying out unexpected things but also communication and team work. We recommend having as many people as possible in a team and figuring out each member’s strength before hand as time is the most precious resource you have.
The Game Master
The game master is present in the form a robot which guides you through the game. As our trusted side-kick, he helped us throughout the game, especially when we couldn’t figure out how to move forward. Fortunately, we got to meet him at the end so we could thank him for a great time.
The second chapter from Time Run felt different from the first although it was built on the same foundation. Although the novelty factor was less impressive than the first episode, it was an unforgettable experience.
