Jack the Ripper is another one of the enjoyable experiences offered by BreakOut. This escape room arose to our expectations and we are waiting for you to share your impressions as well about it, in the comments below.
Reception: The guys at breakout have a proper reception room. The space is sufficient for multiple teams, they have the technical means for card payments and receipts and they even offer the possibility to buy some soft drinks. For those of you who are competitive, they post rankings of the best teams for each escape room at the reception. They are very close to Cismigiu park, in a very accessible zone for private/public transportation.
London, 1888, another dead body has been found in a dark alley of Whitechapel. The murderer, Jack the Ripper, is still at large and many think he is going to kill again, in the following nights. You and your team are the detectives tasked with finding out who the murderer really is, before he commits another crime. You only have 60 minutes so hurry up!
While this escape room is not very spacious, it wins in term of design by taking advantage of all of the space for creating gameplay elements and puzzles. The decorations are not very complex, which adds to the authenticity of the room – given the action is happening in the 19th century. We would have enjoyed seeing more elements that have an important role in solving the puzzles though. The ambiance is rather scary at times, however we wouldn’t call this escape room horror.
In terms of puzzles, we consider Jack the Ripper to be an escape room most suited for beginners. As the game-space is not very large, we recommend you to go in teams of maximum 4 persons. We have played it in 3 and it went very smoothly, and we all had the chance to play our part in solving the mission. Some puzzles require teamwork and most of them are classical, without a lot of modern day technology involved. The game requires a considerable amount of attention so make sure to have a vigilant teammate amongst you.
As usual, we had the opportunity to meet yet another one of the game masters from BreakOut. Although the conversation went well between us and the escape room was well coordinated, we would have liked to see a little more involvement from the game master in telling the story. While we did hear the details of our mission, we felt like we were more eager to go in and play the game just so we do another escape room, rather than actually getting into the story and being curious about the mission.
All in all, we had a great time and we hope to visit BreakOut soon enough for yet another escape room.
